A Peek at my Week…Week 7

What a week! It started out with a mandatory meeting during prep on Monday with the news that our school went from a 4 star rating to a 3 star rating and we are losing funding. Our count day numbers were low enough to also lose a kindergarten teacher and two other positions. We lost our Humanities position and were told our prep schedules would be changing. So of course, we went to panic mode and planned on adding 4-5 more students to each kindergarten class on top of wondering which new prep time we would end up with. Thankfully, by Thursday our principal figured it out and we are not losing a kindergarten teacher! Whew! We are also not changing our prep schedule. But, I am getting a new student tomorrow. I do not care if they don’t know a single letter, number, letter sound….as long as they are well behaved!

We celebrated the hellacious week with Bunco at my house and took our annual trip to the dinosaur house. My neighbor a few doors down has a dinosaur park in his front yard. If you ring the bell on his garage, he will come out and show you around and let you look in his garage. Naturally, that’s exactly what we did! Mr. Springer happily visited with us and told us the story of his vision to create a free park for families to enjoy. He explained how his car was screen printed and there is a pterodactyl on the top for semi trucks to view as they passed him. It is a sight to be seen! After we took pictures and viewed all his yard had to offer, we went back to my house and continued on with Bunco. I can not imagine a better group of people to work with! I absolutely love my job and my co-workers!
