Welcome! I’m so happy you found my little blog! Here, you will find links to my social media and Etsy shop which has some cute scrapbook page kits, digital teaching resources, wood crafts, t-shirts and lots of other Etsyish items :). On the blog itself, you will read about a variety of topics and funny, lighthearted blog posts. I may occasionally write things that offend people. This is not my intention; however, political correctness isn’t my thing. I am always looking for ways to improve myself and have learned a lot from veteran teachers and counselors that I will share with you along the way.

A little bit about me…

My name is Mandy and I was born and raised (and still reside) in Henderson, NV. I am happily married with kids, Jake and Mackenzie, who are absolutely the center of my world! I am very close with my family which is where the name of my blog came from. When I was little, my Mama Jack (g-ma) gave me the nick name “Dandy Mandy”. She was the only one who ever called me that name and it kind of stuck. When I say that I am close to my family, I mean close! I live right next door to my parents. The only that separates our houses is a short brick wall. My sister lives about 5 minutes away with her family and my other sister lives about 30 minutes away. We all see each other on a regular basis. The dandelions were my husband, Mike’s idea. I am ADHD to the max and my scattered nature reminds him of the dandelion’s white floaties that fly in all different directions when moved. Plus, it tied in with the name “dandy” so I considered it a win-win!

I am an elementary school counselor (yes, I do it for the fame and fortune!). I work for CCSD (the 5th largest school in the U.S.). Before counseling, I taught my absolute favorite grade level, kindergarten. I have also taught 1st and 5th grades. I would like to eventually counsel high school students in college preparation and career readiness. But for now, I am happy in elementary school. I also work for our school district’s onboarding department, conducting trainings and classes for new teachers and student teachers in training.

In my spare time, I love to scrapbook. I have come to the realization that I might be more of a hoarder than a scrapbooker, oh well! I am a little crazy and scrapbook 3 albums each year. One for each of my kids and one for our family. One thing I do not like to do in my spare time is cook! I am not a fan at all! I love Pinterest and will pin the hell out of delicious looking recipes, but they are very rarely ever attempted. I have many kitchen fail stories that I’m sure you will enjoy reading about in the random category. A while back, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease and it has become a much bigger part of my life than I would like to admit. You can read all about it in the Hashimoto’s category. I also love Dr. Phil and will quote him regularly!
