What Goes Up…

I took a little tumble off of my scrapbook table on Sunday. I was standing on the table adhering a vinyl saying over my window as part of my scrapbook room makeover and stupidly tried to get off the table by stepping on my rolling chair. The chair tipped over and I literally came crashing down on top of it. Mackenzie was in the other room and said she heard some loud cuss words and a crash! I have a nasty bruise on my inner right thigh (the pictures are awful) and my left wrist is banged up.

I’ve never fallen that hard before so I think I may have gone into shock. I laid on the floor for a little bit and got really sleepy all of the sudden. When Mackenzie rushed into the room, the first words I said to her was “Don’t tell your dad!” Mike has a tendency to panic and I knew he would call 911! He was outside washing my car when this happened. I got up and moved around a bit to make sure nothing was broken while Mackenzie got me an ice pack for my leg and a bottle of water. When I sat down, I felt nauseous and dizzy. Then, my hearing went out. Everything sounded really far away and muffled. After closing my eyes and taking a few drinks of water, I began to feel better. Mike came inside and walked passed the scrapbook room and noticed the ice pack and how pale I was. Busted. I told him what happened and he panicked, demanding that we go to the emergency room! I had no desire to sit in the emergency room for hours just to be sent home with orders to rest. I won and promised to rest for the rest of the day. As the day went on, the stiffness started to settle in.

Sleeping that night was sheer hell! Driving to work was quite uncomfortable. When I got to work, I had our school nurse check out my wrist and she suggested getting it X-rayed. I went to a quick care after work. They took an X-ray of my wrist and said it was sprained. I’ll have to wear a splint for two weeks and if the pain continues, they’ll take another X-ray once the swelling goes down. When the doctor looked at my leg, the first words out of her mouth were “oh shit”! She apologized and said she hadn’t seen anything like that before. She said it’s a severe hematoma and will take a few weeks to heal. I’m so glad it wasn’t any worse. I got off pretty lucky. I’m a mess lol!
